Gallery Wall

Gallery walls are everywhere! Pottery Barn catalogs, Ballard Design and many blogger's homes. It took me awhile to get the look I was going for but I think I finally have it. We had this old, kinda tacky door knocker with our name on it at our old home in Seattle. I've had it for years with no idea why I was keeping it. I decided to frame it today and add it to the "wall". I like it!

I found an initial "K" and framed it too. Yes, I know... another copycat idea. You can't be original all of the time!
I also added my Dad's old tennis racket when he was a teenager. Not too shabby!

This is in our office. It's been a work in process so I'll show you the end result soon! I promise!

Tray with Me

So during one of my delirious thrift store outings, I came upon this little honey in all it's lime green and floral beauty. I had been searching for a sturdy tray to put on our ottoman in the bonus room for beverages etc. It was perfect! You are gonna slap yourself when you see how easy this is!

I raced home, threw open my spray paint cupboard, picked a nice satin black and away I went....
filling my garage with paint fumes (it's raining as usual here in Seattle). Alas, it was beautiful but...

boring. The little orange dots from the center of those gorgeous flowers also showed up as I was too lazy to sand the darn thing. Hmmm....how can I "fancy" it up a bit without doing anything permanent because most likely I'll want to change it some day. The creative light bulb went on again and I ran to Lowes.

I bought one faux ceiling tile in a tarnished silver finish. I cut the tile to fit inside the tray.

Isn't she a thing of beauty? Now I can pop it out to wipe it off and when the mood strikes me change the tray to a whole new look some day. Fresh strawberries anyone?

OH HAPPY DAY

Last weekend my husband surprised me with an ALL DAY date. I was so excited and we had a wonderful time. He was in a shopping mood which I LOVE and take full advantage of, I admit.

We went to all of my favorite places, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Nordstrom and even went into Tiffany's to try on a few possible Mother's Day presents. Yes, it was a g r e a t day. We went to lunch at PF Changs (I love the lettuce wraps sooooo much), had a cappuccino at Starbucks and then here's the biggie.....he took me to Goodwill. He knows that I lose my mind when I go there. I have shopping there down to a science. Anyway, look what we found for just $20!! Although we weren't in the market for a coffee table, I couldn't pass it up! I can't wait to put some great pieces on it!

I'm Baaacckkk.....

Hello!

I'm back from my three month sabbatical! Once December hit, blogging had to be put on hold. However, creeping on my favorite blogs did not (you can't go cold turkey people!) Even though I took a break on posting, I did not take a break on projects! Remember this?? I found it at Good will and I had a plan....
I wanted this for our cabin in the mountains. We have so many great and funny memories with friends there. I wanted a bulletin board to place some of our favorite photos on. Something that our friends could look at, laugh and reminisce when they came to visit! I bought some burlap fabric at Walmart (gosh this stuff is hot in the decorating world these days!) Stapled it to the board.

I also added some hammered furniture tacks around the perimeter for a more rustic and finished look.

Ta da! Instant fun and instant art for dirt cheap! Our friends LOVE looking at these photos and I had a great time going through them in order to find the perfect ones. Sorry for the poor quality of this pic. Guess I was in a hurry that day!
